We also support people, including older people and people with disability, to stay living at home longer and to live well in their community.

Our broad range of primary health services, care management and in home and community support services can be tailored to an individual’s needs and with major hubs in Box Hill and Eltham, these services can be delivered locally, in the Eastern and North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Job Description

The opportunity:
We are looking for an Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator to join our supportive and professional multidisciplinary teams in a flexible part time capacity.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Follow and promote safe work practices, procedures and instructions.
  • Participate in the organisational continuous quality improvement program and develop, monitor and review policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • The review, development and implementation of the OHS Management System including OHS policies and procedures to ensure healthAbility is OHS compliant and OHS and wellbeing outcomes are achieved.
  • Providing expert safety advice, guidance and support.
  • Participating in and championing OHS projects, across all healthAbility sites.
  • Conducting incident trend analysis, cluster reviews and identify common trends and recommend and coordinate strategies to improve.
  • Supporting HSRs and managers in undertaking annual safety audits and follow up on any improvement actions.
  • Managing all OHS administrative matters including the administration of OHS registers and systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

Our ideal candidate:

  • Recognised industry qualification such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Occupational health and safety occupational health and safety.
  • Experience in providing OHS subject matter expertise and advice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and thorough understanding of OHS legislation.
  • Working knowledge of risk management principles .
  • Experience in risk assessments, safety audits and safety policy development.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, coaching, and consultative skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Seeks out and is able to work collaboratively with other subject matter experts, managers and staff.
  • Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and sound judgment when addressing health and safety matters.
  • Return to work or injury management qualification will be highly regarded.
  • Work with psychological safety legislation and hazard identification will be highly regarded.
